Connoisseurs could be in for a surprise this year and they may not be alone. Small brewers from Australia to regon face the daunting prospect of tweaking their recipes or experimenting less with new brews thanks to shortages of key beer ingredients and rising prices for others. Even so beer prices are likely to climb. How high is anybody’s guess.

This episode must be considered a possible blocking move by S&N against a hostile takeover of the company by Carlsberg and Heineken which if it went through might trigger a division of current S&N assets. As with much merger and acquisition activity the need for scalable advantages is the underlying factor in the joint bid for S&N. Brewers are encountering increasingly difficult trading conditions due to a decline in sales growth in established core markets and pricing pressures from off-trade retailers.
Local Boliarka Brewery Presents Warsteiner Beer in Bulgaria

Boliarka will import and sell Warsteiner marks in Bulgaria from high-price class. Warsteiner’s distribution will be mainly directed to bigger Bulgarian cities winter and summer resorts luxury restaurants and pubs. Boliarka and Warsteiner are already working together on another project – licensed production of Kaltenberg brand also in Veliko Turnovo. The German concern participates in the aristocratic Bavarian brewery that dates from 1753.
