If that is true this Sunday?s International Beer Fest at the Hyatt Coolum should be a positively religious experience. Because of the beautiful symbiotic relationship between golf and beer it just seemed right to hold such a festival at a golf course. And there is no need to despair if you don?t know any beer songs; the authentic ompapa band will take care of the atmosphere.

They will have to brace themselves for a possible shortage because demand has been growing beyond the South African Breweries’ (SAB) expectations but there will not be a price increase from SAB until January. “Right now our ability to supply every brand and pack-type to consumers on demand is under some pressure. Simply put our delivery turnaround is tight because our buffer stocks going into the end of the year are lower than we would like them to be” said Janine van Stolk SAB communications manager. She said while there was not a critical shortage there was some constraint on supplies and the company was doing the best it could to ensure that deliveries returned to normal soon.

The Mash House’s brewmaster Zach Hart entered his India Pale Ale (IPA) and Belgian Tripel to be judged by over 100 professional beer tasters among over 2800 other beers from more than 470 domestic breweries in one of the world’s largest and most prestigious tasting competitions. Gold silver and bronze medals were awarded in 75 beer-style categories at an awards ceremony on ct. The GABF attracts over 41000 beer connoisseurs from around the world to the Colorado Convention Center to taste one-ounce beer samples from the festival’s breweries. The brewery booths most of which are staffed by the brewers themselves are arranged on the festival floor by regions of the country in order to give visitors a walking tour of the nation’s beers.
