Sure I like a nice cold one after a backcountry hike. I like a Kingfisher with my saag paneer and a Negra Modelo with my tacos al carbon. I even won a chugging contest at the Wadham College Boat Club when I was an exchange student in England about a million years ago. But when folks (most of them much younger than I) start talking about the finer points of wheat lagers versus amber ales my eyes glaze over and I wish for a cool glass of Campania falanghina or even better a gin martini up. I’m weary of all the microbrew chatter that flits to and fro whenever the topic of beer arises.
