How else to explain that in the pastfew weeks I’ve drunk my body weight in beer – and gee that’s a lotof hops and malt. Naturally a spate of sweltering days has a direct correlationin the increase of beer consumption. You don’t need to be an expertto figure that one out but why?Unlike most alcoholic beverages a cold beer is refreshing andthirst-quenching. Aside from the refreshment value what’s excitingthese days is that there are so many outstanding local andinternational beers on the market. It’s not surprising that beer is often a winemaker’s drink ofchoice and many have decided to brew one or two – think Knappsteinreserve lager or Saltram’s Pepperjack. However inthe last couple of years it’s the rise in craft or micro-brewingthat has been really thrilling… You don’t need to be an expertto figure that one out but why?Unlike most alcoholic beverages a cold beer is refreshing andthirst-quenching. Brewing seriously for a couple of yearsalthough he’s only 28 Kraus can now boast of making some of thecountry’s finest – and he has the awards to prove it.

Azerbaijani beer producer Baku Castel is to change its name. Factory?s beer production office head Eljan Huseynov says that it is linked with withdrawal of France?s Castel from enterprise?s shareholder ranks and acquisition of up to 90% of its shares by Russian brewery company Baltika. ?I think in January we will undergo the process of re-registration and operate as Baku-Baltika? Huseynov said. He also explained the goal of acquisition of the Azerbaijani factory by Russian Baltika with Russia?s great interest to Azerbaijan from both economic and political angle. The deal between Braesseries Internationales Holding Eastern Ltd and Russia?s Baltika JSC for purchase of Azerbaijan-based ?Baku Castel? (Khirdalan brewery) by the latter was concluded on 24 July 2008. Thereby Baltika became a competent owner of up to 90% of Baku-Castel brewery.

Baltika brewery to switch to a new development stage of Baku Brewery (former Baku-Castel) in 2009. Baltika informed that it is planned to introduce modern and high-technology PET packing. ?That will allow to produce high-quality beer with prolonged expiration date without loosing any qualitative or taste properties? Baltika informed. At the same time Baltika will continue to develop Baku-Castel brand by restyling Efsane and Bizim PET packing and producing Khirdalan beer under PET technology. By 2009 the Brewery will present such brands as ?Baltika? and ?Arsenalnoye? that will allow to use the whole capacity and enter a new development stage of Baku Brewery.
