Taking a Swig of AmBev
TheStreet.com – TheStreet.com (subscription) – Jan 14, 2008
Globally total beer consumption is expected to grow by 210 million hectoliters between 2007 and 2010. In other words Central America and South America are anticipated to represent 21% of total worldwide beer consumption by 2010 and AmBev has a strong beer franchise in Brazil as well as the Quinsa region composed of Argentina Paraguay Bolivia and Chile. Brazil and the Quinsa region saw the strongest EBITDA growth for the Brazilian company over the first nine months of 2007 in beer and soft drinks as well as nonalcoholic and non-carbonated beverages which represent another strong growth area for AmBev. What is striking about AmBev at least compared with Fomento is the diversity and variety of its beers and soft-drink offerings.
SBL: Beer Crew hand Dinos their second loss
Taipei Times – Taipei Times – Jan 14, 2008
PHT: WANG YI-SUNG TAIPEI TIMES It never rains but it pours. That was the feeling in the Yulon Dinos locker room after their 77-85 loss to Taiwan Beer at the Taipei County Sports Complex on Saturday evening as they dropped back-to-back contests for the first time in nearly a year. Lin “the Beast” Chih-jeh and Ho Sho-cheng combined for 15 of Taiwan Beer’s 23 points in the decisive fourth quarter to prevent the Dinos from rallying. Following their shock loss to the Taiwan Mobile Leopards on Friday night that had ended the Dinos’ record-tying 12-game winning streak the Dinos seemed ready to vent their frustration on the Beer Crew before Saturday’s match. But the highly anticipated showdown between the top two squads in the league did not start off that way as Taiwan Beer had a 10-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a 26-15 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Increased Exports of TÃnima Beer
DTC News – Jan 14, 2008
- Exports of Tnima beer will increase in 2008 as a result of major investments to raise production. The Tnima plant in the eastern Cuban province of Camagüey produced 11 million boxes last year. In December 2007 alone the factory produced more than one million boxes in both bottles and bulk. Works are being carried out to repair 12 reactors to increase the storage capacity and a new production line is being installed to increase exports. The launch of a stronger Tnima beer (13 degrees) is one of the company’s challenges over the next few months.
