San Francisco Chronicle – Feb 28, 2008
tmpl –> The Bistro pened in 1994 by Vic and Cynthia Kralj the Bistro has established itself as one of the best beer bars in the East Bay and gained a reputation as an ardent supporter of the Northern California brewing scene. Local regulars home brewers and beer aficionados stop by to drink talk hops and listen to live music. This downtown Hayward bar is also home to a variety of killer all-day beer festivals like last month’s Double IPA Festival November’s West Coast Barrel-Aged Beer Fest and ctober’s Wet Hop Beer Festival. The vibe: Check your pretensions at the door. The Bistro is unflashy unassuming and comfy with just enough rough edges to make for a good time.

A fine bottle of Beaujolais to go with dinner or a six-pack to enjoy while watching the game is easier to come by in Rockwall these days. In the last several weeks more than a dozen grocery and convenience stores have obtained city clearance to sell beer and wine one step in the process toward obtaining the required state permit. At least two grocery stores Kroger and Brookshire’s have begun selling beer and wine. Another dozen or more restaurants have also cleared the city hurdle and some have dropped private club rules for alcohol sales.
Book Report – Beer School: Bottling Success at the Brooklyn Brewery
Seattle Post Intelligencer – Feb 29, 2008
They’ve become a strong force in the New York and East Coast market over the years and they make some fantastic beers (Their Chocolate Stout being at the top of the list). Founders Steve Hindy and Tom Potter saw a great opportunity and need for a New York based brewery and they haven’t turned back since launching Brooklyn in 1987. This is really a story of what the two founders went through to build their brand and grow the business. If you’ve ever thought of launching your own business in particular a brewery then this is a great read.
