Agency sticks up for beer
Dallas Morning News – Mar 22, 2008
The Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission voted 5-1 Friday to retain beer quality rules that call for stocks of bottled strong beer to be rotated and refrigerated and for beer tap lines to be cleaned regularly. The rules were opposed by beer wholesalers who argued it is not their job to help preserve the freshness of strong beer which has an alcohol content of more than 3. 2 percent by weight. State law requires that strong beer be sold only in retail liquor stores that are regulated by the commission. A spokesman for beer producers applauded Friday’s decision and said that now that the rules have been upheld producers will insist that they be enforced.

) Coaches are big business — the local population is just 28 — and 108 buses dropped by last year. The trick says Hill is to "get ‘em laughing before they step off the bus". In about 1990 I left the country for three years – to really discover beer as it turned out – and returned to find Monteith's had been overhauled. My beloved draught beer had disappeared and four new craft beers were born. My beloved draught beer had disappeared and four new craft beers were born. For the last 15 years Monteith's has been one of our leading mainstream beer brands. They have produced some great seasonal beers and I have always been a fan of the Black. It was always inevitable that demand would overtake the capacity of the Greymouth brewery. Seven years ago when DB tried to close the West Coast brewery a huge public outcry forced them to rethink.
