Michelle Wranik divesin. If there’s any truth in the Czech proverb “where beer is brewedlife is good” life must be glorious at the Chodovar FamilyBrewery. Not content simply to drink the stuff here they alsobathe in it. I’m standing in the brewery’s ancient cellar with my partnerfour German tourists and a buxom Czech woman named Klara. We’renaked apart from flimsy white sheets and we watch intently as sixclaw-footed metal bathtubs fill slowly with dark frothy beer. It may sound like a hedonistic fantasy or just a waste of goodbeer but this is the Czech Republic – home to arguably the bestbeer in the world a place where people spend more money on pilsnerthan on water and threaten to overthrow any government that daresraise the tax on beer… I’m standing in the brewery’s ancient cellar with my partnerfour German tourists and a buxom Czech woman named Klara. The La Mesa groups also complained the rock 'n' roll bands that performed after dark brought a party crowd that wasn't family-friendly. Details are still being worked out but the La Mesa groups said visitors will still find many of the attractions they have come to expect over the last 34 years: German music the chicken dance beer and bratwurst. They plan to offer three beer gardens this year instead of two and have secured Karl Strauss Brewing Co. The San Diego-based brewer has committed to developing a La Mesa ktoberfest Ale that could be available at next year's event. Mostly it's the size of the event that's expected to change over the next few years. The La Mesa groups say they want to scale back the large crowds.
