SAB Miller’s beer volumes decline

SABMiller is expected to launch Grolsch locally to parry Amstel owner Heineken stepping up competition by building a Gauteng brewery in partnership with Diageo and Namibia Breweries. Higher input costs for barley aluminium for cans and other commodities saw prices rise faster than beer volumes. SABMiller’s revenue grew 16% over the year the world’s third largest brewer said in a trading update yesterday.

According to state excise authorities themicrobrewery – which will serve fresh high-quality malt beer at a pricey Rs 150a mug – is likely to start in a couple ofmonths. The proposal for themicrobrewery is being looked into by the commissioner for state excise inMumbai excise superintendent Vijay Chinchalkar told the media onWednesday. A microbrewery is asmall-scale beer brewing facility where the tipple has a limited shelf-life ofnot more than 24 hours. Theproduction at the microbrewery usually does not exceed 200 boxes perday.

It would not surprise me if prisoners would turn up their noses at the “food” offered expensively at the ski resort. Yet we weren’t sure our stomachs could hold out until we reached home. So it was Nederland the little stoner town maybe five minutes from the slopes. Nederland has a Nepalese place.
