Chris Nelson and his wife Merideth Canham-Nelson of Carmel Valley Calif. set out to sample great beer destinations and festivals around the world in a year. They visited 90 breweries in 15 beer destinations in 2008 from Anchorage’s Great Alaska Beer & Barley Wine Festival in January to the Belgian Kerstbierfestival in December. ther stops included regon England Germany Colorado and San Diego. Nelson and his wife hope to write a book about their beer travels.

Colorado supermarkets want to sell stronger beer

Its warning came as the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) said UK beer sales saw a record fall last year. The BBPA is calling on the government to reduce duty on beer. Adnams warned that while trading conditions may continue to deteriorate it was well positioned to weather the storm. The firm is now due to publish its 2008 results at the start of April. ‘Extreme pressures’The BBPA said sales of beer from UK pubs restaurants and shops in the last quarter of 2008 were down 8.

(AP) — A was arrested on accusations he stole a beer at gunpoint. Detective Pam Yazzolino of the Beaverton Police Department said a 42-year-old man displayed a black handgun at a convenience store and told the clerk to put the money in the bag with the beer. When the clerk refused to add the cash the robber grabbed the beer and drove away. Another employee provided police with a description of the suspect’s car and partial plate number. Police stopped the car recovering the beer and what turned out to be a replica of a black Beretta handgun.
