The full barrels were strewn across the southbound carriageway near Ugely between J9 for the A11 and J8 for Stansted Airport. Five cars were later involved in a crash on the M11 at Great Chesterford causing severe delays. The motorway was reopened by the Highways Agency at 1600 GMT. The National Traffic Control Centre said traffic appeared to be moving again at 1620 GMT.

Kirin said the deal with San Miguel Corp (. PS) itslong-term partner in the Philippines would speed up itsregional growth while San Miguel is expected to use the fundsto finance its diversification into heavy industry.

Beer is being eyed for additional taxation in a number of states facing budget shortfalls. In regon legislators have proposed raising the beer tax from the current $2. 60 per barrel to $49. 61 a jump of about 1800%. Lawmakers say that amounts to 15 cents more per 12-ounce glass.

The trade group ? whose members include Anheuser-Busch Heineken USA Inc. and MillerCoors ? also lobbied on regulatory matters affecting brewers including funding to programs to combat underage drinking in the ctober-December period. Besides Congress the Beer Institute lobbied the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Food and Drug Administration Federal Trade Commission and other agencies according to the report filed Jan. 23 with the House clerk’s office.

Tucson man pleads guilty in deadly beer run

Daniel Chavez 22 pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the July 2006 death of Christopher Cottle 50 and will be sentenced May 1. Chavez and three or four other men went to the Quik Mart at 3499 S. Wilmot Road to steal beer defense attorney David Darby told Judge Deborah Bernini of Pima County Superior Court. Chavez stayed in the car when at least three of the other men went inside grabbed the beer and ran out Darby said.
