Cincinnati beer brewery expands despite recession

A beer trade group estimates that craft beer sales in 2008 grew by four to six percent compared to 2007. The Brewer’s Association based in Boulder Colo. says sales have been increasing steadily in recent years. Demand outstripped production pace at Mount Carmel Brewing Company in Cincinnati which sold 1000 barrels last year and expects to sell about 3000 barrels in 2010.

2 brewer KirinHoldings (. T) said it will buy up to 49 percent of SanMiguel Brewery the beer making arm of Southeast Asia’s biggestfood and drinks firm for $1. Kirin said the deal with San Miguel Corp (. PS) itslong-term partner in the Philippines would speed up itsregional growth while San Miguel is expected to use the fundsto finance its diversification into heavy industry.
