(AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones has been released a day early from a weeklong stay in jail for drinking beer in violation of his plea agreement for a drug charge. The sheriff’s department says Jones was freed Saturday. At a hearing Monday Jones was ordered to stay in jail until Sunday after asking to be locked up rather than spending six weeks in a treatment facility. Jones failed a drug and alcohol screening. He told the judge he drank beer while playing golf the week before.

Police said that Brandee M. Weeks 25 is accused of striking the 36-year-old Sauquoit woman and causing physical damage to her facial area. Weeks was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s ffice deputies and a Florida Fish and Wildlife canine unit were called out to Golden Lariat at Interstate 10 at 10:30 p.
