open(targetUrl); }If you love drinking beer Pittsburgh should be your kind of town. Still the national perception of us as hard-workin’ beer-drinkin’ football watchin’ blue-collar types could use a little updating. For example no Iron City Beer isn’t pumped straight out of the Monongahela River and into the faucets at Steelers games. Actually Pittsburgh has one of the country’s few remaining distinctive regional brewers in Iron City Brewing Co. and a healthy selection of craft beers — both well-established veterans like Penn Brewery and great newcomers like the East End Brewing Company. There also are some great bars that are really serious about their beer.

“I do it myself” That is what’s concerning many taverns like Three Aces North where most of their customers are smokers. The owner of Three Aces says business has taken a big hit since the ban to the point she is thinking about closing for good. Hoping to curb that downturn the Fond du Lac City Council has recently approved several bars to build outdoor beer gardens where smoking would be permitted. “I was not in favor of the smoking ban to begin with but we have it now” said Alderman Jerry Thiesfeldt. “Businesses are in the business of making money. So we have to make adjustments to do that. ” But some businesses say it will only help during warm weather months.

500 team and more about President bama who made the trek over from the White House to catch some Friday night hoops. bama even — gasp! — paid for his own beer and repeatedly chatted up a five-year-old Wizards fan Nick Aiello who probably wasn’t expecting to have the Prez as his courtside seat buddy. (Alright I admit I kind of hate that kid right now — courtside seats and the chance to chat with bama all evening? Nick you lucky scamp you. )After the last few years — time in which it could be asked whether George W. Bush knew the cross streets or even the neighborhood where the Verizon Center is located — it was refreshing to see our city’s most famous resident doing well something that most Washingtonians have done from time to time. f course though there’s no escaping the man’s status: the start of the game had to be delayed for a few minutes so that bama could make it in time for the tipoff.
