(AP) — Sheriff’s deputies said a Texas woman started a brawl at a wake in Arkansas when she arrived with a beer can in her hand. The woman 52 faces a third-degree domestic battery charges as does another woman 46 over the March 29 fight. Deputies said the first woman arrived at the Christies Chapel Church with a beer can in hand and that she refused to leave. The first woman then allegedly grabbed a man by the face leaving scratch marks on his lower right cheek and causing him to bleed. The man’s mother then allegedly slapped the woman and kicked another woman in the chest.

State wants temporary beer keg law to become permanent

The legistation introduced jointly by the state ffice of Alcoholism and Substance Services (ASAS) and the State Liquor Authority would make permanent an existing law set to expire this November. That law requires beer kegs be marked with an identification label or tag allowing police to track down the keg’s buyer in the case of underage parties. It would also raise the required keg registration deposit from $50 to $75. Additionally if the keg is returned without the identification tag or if the keg isn’t returned to the retailer within 90 days the deposit fee is forfeited.

And then there are other breweries that quietly go about brewing fantastic beers without all of the hoopla and fanfare. The Two Brothers Brewing Company of Warrenville Ill. is one of those breweries. You rarely hear beer geeks say "oh I can’t wait for the new release of the Northwind Imperial Stout to come out" although they really should say that it’s phenomenal.
