Can beer ads during hoops

Thousands more young lives are disrupted or destroyed. Any college president will point to student alcohol use as the most serious and costly concern on campus today. Despite such tragedies many in higher education continue to market beer to their underage students and other young viewers during televised college sporting events. And no college sports event is more awash in beer ads than the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. The NCAA’s refusal to eliminate beer ads —- after requests from a third of its member institutions and hundreds of coaches athletic directors and youth advocates around the country —- demonstrates a callous disregard for its mission to serve the best interests of higher education college athletics and student athletes. It undermines colleges’ efforts to address student alcohol problems and demeans the values of college sports. n its face the NCAA’s advertising and promotional policy seems reasonable enough.

Movie looks at craft beer’s David vs. Goliath story

I just take for granted whenever I go into Winco or Albertsons that there will be a decent selection of craft beers to choose from – or that I can breeze into the Boise Co-op and mix and match a sixer out of dozens of choices. Craft beer – and the small independent companies who make it – are actually experiencing some growth at a time when regular beer sales are flat. This can’t make the brewing giants happy since those beers we love so much take up shelf space the big boys used to have and want back. This has led to all kinds of tactics from commercials mocking craft beer (usually from Coors which not surprisingly makes the dullest beers on the planet) to companies like Anheuser-Busch developing more full-flavored beers from their Michelob brand to sit next to Bud Light on the shelves. It must be hard to be an independent craft brewer knowing you probably have a superior product but have to constantly battle against the deep pockets of these massive corporations.

Framingham Police say man’s SUV was full of empty beer cans

Lopez’ Isuzu Trooper rear-ended a parked Toyota Tercel with enough force that it was pushed partially under the rear of a parked Toyota Corolla Shastany said. "(The Corolla) owner said he heard a loud crash that woke him up and he ran outside to see the crashed cars and saw Lopez standing near them" Shastany said. The officers looked inside the Isuzu and saw several empty beer cans on the floor as well as several others shoved into a paper bag. They questioned Lopez to see if he was driving and he answered in a slurred voice "Nothing no problem" Shastany said. While officers talked to Lopez he kept putting his hands in his pockets despite being ordered not to do so so the officers searched him. Shastany said they found the Isuzu’s keys and a full can of beer as well as the SUV’s registration. Lopez of 42 Frederick St.
